ATKV KOM TOT FEES SE REDDING | ATKV COMES TO FESTIVAL'S AID

Ná ’n maand wat gekenmerk is deur terugslae en uitdagings, kan die raadslede en bestuur van die Vrystaat Kunstefees ’n sug van verligting slaak, nadat die Afrikaanse Taal- en Kultuurvereniging (ATKV) die fees te hulp gesnel het.
Die ATKV het goedgunstiglik aangebied om die uitstaande vergoeding vir kunstenaars van die 2022-fees oor te neem. Hierdie reddingsboei help nie net die kunstenaars wat weens die fees se kontantvloeiprobleem nie betaling ontvang het nie, maar verseker ook die voortbestaan van die fees en sy visie om steeds geleenthede vir kunstenaars te skep.
Die direkteur van die fees, Michael Garbett, sê die fees is verheug en bedank die ATKV vir sy onbaatsugtige en visionêre leierskap. “Die ATKV bevorder al 92 jaar lank die kunste in Suid-Afrika en het ’n lang en hegte verhouding met die fees. Oor die jare heen het ons baie gebaat by die organisasie se proaktiewe bevordering van die kulturele behoeftes van ’n inklusiewe gemeenskap. Die ATKV se aanbod bewys dat dié organisasie verbind is tot volhoubare sosiale en ekonomiese groei en vooruitgang.”
“Die ATKV glo in die Vrystaat Kunstefees en sy missie om ’n platform vir die kunste te skep. Daarom is dit vir ons ’n voorreg om weer – net soos in die verlede – die fees te ondersteun ten einde die voortbestaan van die fees te help verseker,” sê Sonél Brits, besturende direkteur van die ATKV-MSW.
Beide organisasies sien uit na opbouende samewerking in die toekoms, en pak 2023 met hernude vertroue in die fees en gesamentlike, weldeurdagte planne aan.
After a month marked by setbacks and challenges, the board and management team of the Vrystaat Arts Festival can breathe a sigh of relief after the Afrikaans Taal- en Kultuurvereniging (ATKV) rushed to the festival’s aid.
The ATKV has kindly offered to take over the outstanding compensation owed to artists from the 2022 festival. This lifeline not only aids the artists who did not receive payment due to the festival’s cash flow problems, but also ensures the survival of the festival and the continuation of its vision to create opportunities for artists.
The festival director, Michael Garbett, says the festival is delighted and thanks the ATKV for its selfless and visionary leadership. “The ATKV has supported the arts in South Africa for 92 years and has a long and close relationship with the festival. Over the years, we have benefited greatly from the organisation’s proactive promotion of the cultural needs of an inclusive community. The ATKV’s offer proves that the organisation is committed to sustainable social and economic growth and progress.”
“The ATKV believes in the Vrystaat Arts Festival and its mission to create a platform for the arts. That is why it is a privilege for us to once again – just like in the past – support the festival to help ensure its continued existence,” says Sonél Brits, managing director of the ATKV-MSW.
Both organisations look forward to constructive cooperation in the future and approach 2023 with renewed confidence in the festival and joint, well-thought out plans.
