Crossroads
The exhibition Crossroads is curated by a duo comprising Belgium-based writer and photographer Hughes Makaba Ntoto and creative consultant and arts writer Palesa Segomotso Motsumi. The curatorial framework is designed to look at the in-between moments, the intimate experiences we have with nature, human beings and spaces, both artificial and natural. The collective photographers have worked with Motsumi on two different curatorial projects in 2021 and 2022 at historically-facing spaces, such as the Troyeville House and Ellis House, situated east of Johannesburg. Crossroads develop a practice of gathering at a point with each photographer’s body of work in conversation with another across continents and conversation with historical spaces.
