Waar oos & wes ontmoet tells the story of Dina Tseng. She mourns the loss of her college sweetheart for 14 years and undergoes terrifying electroshock therapy. Later, she meets Tommy, a Taiwanese man who comes to South Africa during the apartheid years with almost nothing. They face racism and prejudice. Dina raises Tommy’s three Taiwanese sons, and together, they build an impressive business empire. Although the Dutch Reformed Church refuses to marry them due to his Buddhist background, their two children are baptised – on the condition that Tommy raises them as Christians. Despite their fairytale life, their businesses are devastated by floods, a fire, and a tsunami. Nevertheless, their marriage grows stronger than ever. Dina fights cancer bravely, remains positive, and lives life to the fullest. It is a story of faith, hope, and immortal love.
